Powertrain Features
The 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee gets 295 net horsepower from the Pentastar V-6 engine block. Having a fuel economy of 26 MPG on the highway, this six-cylinder powertrain tows up to 6,200 pounds. Standard on the 2021 Kia Telluride, the 3.8-L V-6 engine can’t produce more than 291 hp. Built on the Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) platform, this six-cylinder powerplant has a towing capacity of only 5,000 pounds. Incorporating hemispherical-shaped combustion chambers, the Jeep Grand Cherokee’s 5.7-L engine kicks out 360 hp. Using natural aspiration, the V-8 powerhouse unleashes 390 lb-ft. When equipped with this eight-cylinder propulsion system, this Jeep SUV tows 7,200 pounds. With an upgrade to the 6.4-L SRT HEMI engine, you will get an additional 115 hp. This high-performance powertrain has a peak torque output of 475 pound-feet. A supercharger supplements the 6.2-L HEMI engine that pumps out a class-leading output of 707 hp. Twisting out 645 lb-ft, this custom engine also provides a 0-60 mph acceleration in the mid 3-second range. Both SUVs run on an eight-speed automatic transmission system. When equipped with the Launch Control and Brembo braking system, the Grand Cherokee is ready to compete on the track.
Off-Road Capabilities
The 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee is available with a 4×4 drive system that operates on the Quadra-Trac I technology. You don’t have to manually adjust this drivetrain, which automatically engages and disengages the axles as needed. Paired with a two-speed transfer case, the Quadra-Trac II 4WD system sends power to the appropriate axle based on the driving conditions. The All-Speed Traction Control technology is integrated into this signature drivetrain. Capable of diverting up to 100 percent of available torque to an individual wheel, the Quadra-Drive II 4×4 drive delivers industry-leading, off-road capabilities. The Electronic Limited-Slip Differential adjusts the torque flow in this patented driveline. Backed up by the Active On-Demand technology, the 2021 Kia Telluride’s optional AWD system provides good all-weather traction. You could also choose the AWD Lock and Snow modes for this AWD. You’ll get more driving modes from the Grand Cherokee’s Traction Management System, including the Sand and Rock modes. Additionally, this Trail Rated SUV has better articulation and water fording capabilities than the Kia model.
Safety Features
Standard on the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee, the ProTech I Group includes the Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross-Path Detection. Featuring the Trailer View and Dynamic Grid Lines, the ParkView Rear Back-Up Camera is part of this default safety bundle. You’ll also receive the Rear Park Assist from ParkSense from the package. Additional safety technologies are available in the ProTech II Group, including the Adaptive Cruise Control and Active Braking. Likewise, the 2021 Kia Telluride has advanced active safety features from the Kia Drive Wise suite.
