Powertrain Features
Backed up by generations of brilliant mechanical engineering, the Pentastar engine is a perfect fit for the 2023 Jeep Gladiator and Wrangler. This legendary V-6 powerhouse boasts a 285-horsepower score per SAE metrics. The 3.6-liter engine allows the SUV to tow 3,500 gross pounds. In clear contrast, the pickup truck tows nearly 7,700 pounds with this six-cylinder powertrain. Both Jeep vehicles offer the EcoDiesel engine, which spits out just over 440 pound-feet of torque. This diesel-burning engine doesn’t impact the 2023 Wrangler’s towing capacity. However, the Gladiator’s trailering rating drops to 6,500 pounds with this turbocharged powertrain. Deriving its origins from the original Street and Racing Technology (SRT) series from the Chrysler brand, the 6.4-L HEMI engine is exclusively available on the midsize Jeep SUV. Cranking out 470 lb-ft, this racing-style engine ensures class-leading acceleration on paved surfaces. You can also buy the 2023 Wrangler with a 2.0-L turbo engine that blasts 295 lb-ft. In fact, this compact engine is compatible with the efficient 4xe powertrain on select trims. This Trail Rated SUV gets up to 470 lb-ft of torque from the plug-in hybrid system. Additionally, the 4xe system propels the vehicle for 21 miles without tapping into the fuel tank.
Off-Road Capabilities
Stellantis unveils three advanced 4×4 drive systems for the 2023 Jeep Gladiator and Wrangler. Entry-level trims roll on the Command-Trac 4WD system. Select models get an upgrade from the Selec-Trac drivetrain. The Rubicon editions flaunt the Rock-Trac 4×4 drive system with superior off-road attributes. Both Jeep vehicles offer the Tru-Lok differentials that temporarily lock the front and rear wheels. Similarly, these Trail Rated models are available with a front sway bar that disconnects with the press of a button. Depending on the trim, the 2023 Jeep Gladiator attains a fixed ground clearance of 11.6 inches. The 2023 Jeep Wrangler is available with a 12.9-inch ground clearance. Quite naturally, this robust SUV also has a better approach, departure, and breakover angles. Both Jeep models could be dressed in skid plates and rock rails. Thanks to custom-tailored FOX shocks, the Desert Rated Gladiator Mojave safely navigates sand dunes and other soft surfaces.
Technology Features
The 2023 Jeep Gladiator and 2023 Jeep Wrangler share the same electronic technologies from Stellantis. For instance, both vehicles offer a fourth-generation infotainment system with the Uconnect software. An 8.4-inch touchscreen is available for this iconic multimedia console. Both trims are compatible with SiriusXM Guardian, Traffic, and Travel Link services. A Wi-Fi modem and Bluetooth deliver reliable connections for passengers inside these adventurous vehicles. Besides having conventional Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, the Jeep models recognize remote commands from Amazon Alexa Skill. The forward-scanning TrailCam and rear-facing ParkView camera also sharpen your views of obstacles on and off the road.
