Featuring the corporate-patented Pentastar design, the 2022 Ram 1500’s standard V-6 engine block kicks out 305 horsepower. Mechanical technologies augmenting this default powertrain include the eTorque and Wide-Range Variable Valve Timing. Displacing 3.3 L, the 2022 Ford F-150-‘s standard V-6 engine peaks at only 290 hp. However, this entry-level powerplant has the Ti-VCT technology comparable to the VVT design. Also running on the Ti-VCT mechanics, the Ford F-150’s 5.0-L engine produces 400 hp. Operating on the radically different HEMI technology, the Ram 1500’s 5.7-L engine whips out 395 hp. With a push from eTorque, this V-8 engine tows 12,750 net pounds. This light-duty Ram truck also offers the EcoDiesel engine, which churns out 480 lb-ft. Displacing just 3.0 L, this turbocharged powerhouse tows 12,560 lb. Ford hasn’t developed a diesel engine for the 2022 F-150. However, this model offers a hybrid powertrain that cranks out 570 lb-ft thanks to the PowerBoost technology. You can get the Ram 1500 TRX with a supercharged engine that beats such a torque rating by up to 80 lb-ft. Additionally, the monstrous HEMI engine whips out 702 net hp. In fact, the athletic TRX trim boasts a class-leading acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds.
Recently developed by Stellantis, the Multi-Function Tailgate adds tremendous utility to the 2022 Ram 1500. If needed, you can swing the doors by almost 90 degrees in a horizontal motion. As in previous generations, you could lower the tailgate into a flat position. Tools and other essential items should be stored inside the durable RamBox bins, which come with locks. You’ll even find an electric AC power outlet inside one of the storage boxes on this light-duty Ram pickup truck. The Cargo Management System may be used as a portable cooler for your road trips and outdoor events in the summer. This premium Ram model also has LED lights on and around the bed. Similarly, the 2022 F-150 offers the Tailgate Work Surface and multiple exterior power outlets.
Carrying the Uconnect 5C branding, the 2022 Ram 1500’s infotainment system is available with a high-resolution touch screen that measures 12 inches diagonally. This crisp monitor is positioned vertically to mimic a conventional portrait. By contrast, the 2022 F-150’s 12-inch monitor has a wide layout inside the center stack. This Ford pickup truck includes the SYNC 4 platform, which seems a bit outdated compared to the fifth-generation Uconnect interface. Both light-duty trucks offer 4G Wi-Fi, Android Auto, and SiriusXM Satellite Radio. Additionally, the Ram model’s 19 Harman Kardon speakers beat the Ford’s 18 Bang & Olufsen speakers.
