Horsepower, 5.3-Liter V8 Engine
Standard on the 2022 Wagoneer, the 5.7-liter HEMI engine pumps out 392 horsepower when compressing gasoline at a 10.5:1 ratio. Exploiting the Variable Cam Timing technology, the V-8 engine bursts out 404 pound-feet of torque. Adhering to the EcoTec3 platform from GM, the 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe’s 5.3-liter engine can’t produce more than 355 hp. Running on Variable Valve Timing, this eight-cylinder powerhouse twists out a maximum of only 383 lb-ft. This full-size Chevrolet SUV is designed to tow slightly under 8,000 net pounds based on SAE J2807 compliance. In dramatic comparison, the Wagoneer model can tow a maximum of 10,000 lbs. This all-new SUV is equipped with an automatic transmission that makes eight gear speeds. Adopting the iconic TorqueFlite label, the gearbox is mated to the Quadra-Trac I 4×4 drive system, including a single-speed transfer case. A 4×4 drive with the Quadra-Trac II design is optional for the 2022 Wagoneer. Some upgrades to this driveline include the Hill-Descent Control and an additional speed for the transfer case. Both drivetrain setups are compatible with the Selec-Speed Control and Selec-Terrain Traction Management System. Similarly, the 2022 Tahoe offers two different transfer cases with the Autotrac design. Even when equipped with a 4WD system, this Chevy SUV doesn’t challenge the Wagoneer model in off-road performance. However, this full-size Chevrolet model is available with the Adaptive Air Suspension, which still doesn’t match the capabilities of Wagoneer’s Quadra-Lift Air Suspension.
Adopting the Uconnect 5C NAV technology, the 2022 Wagoneer’s multimedia center includes a touch screen that measures just over 10 inches wide. This updated infotainment console is more advanced than the 2022 Tahoe’s Chevrolet Infotainment 3 System, which also measures slightly more than 10 inches diagonally. However, this Chevy SUV offers the Driver Information Center that covers 12 inches in the instrument cluster. Similarly, the Wagoneer’s cluster display measures 10.25 inches wide. Both three-row models offer a head-up display that’s synchronized with the infotainment suite. Designed exclusively for the Wagoneer SUV, the McIntosh sound system has 19 speakers, including a 10-inch subwoofer. You’ll only get ten speakers from the Tahoe’s Bose Centerpoint audio system.
Available with more than 100 safety and security features, the 2022 Wagoneer is one of the safest models on the market. This three-row SUV comes standard with the Full-Speed Forward Collision Warning, which could slam on the brakes in critical situations. Some technologies that might prevent side crashes include the Active Lane Management and Intersection Collision Assist. Additionally, this all-new Wagoneer model boasts the Perpendicular/Parallel Park Assist and Surround View Camera. You simply won’t get as many advanced active safety features on the 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe, which has the Forward Collision Alert and Front Pedestrian Braking.
