Performance Capabilities

The 2021 Ram 1500 harnesses up to 480 pound-feet of torque from the EcoDiesel engine block. Designed to run on biodiesel fuel, this turbocharged 3.0-liter powertrain has a towing capacity of 12,560 pounds. A variable-geometry turbine manages combustion inside this six-cylinder powerhouse. Having an inline-six configuration, the 2021 Sierra 1500’s 3.0-L Duramax engine can’t exceed the 460 lb-ft marks. This turbo-diesel propulsion system is cooled by the Active Thermal Management. You can also buy this luxury GMC pickup truck with the 5.3-L EcoTec3 engine, which has a peak output of 355 net hp. This normally aspirated, gasoline-consuming, eight-cylinder powertrain can’t compete with the Ram 1500’s iconic 5.7-L HEMI engine. Burning fuel in hemispherical-type combustion chambers, the V-8 powerplant whips out 40 hp more than the 5.3-L EcoTec3 engine. Additionally, the HEMI engine unites with the eTorque Mild Hybrid System for better efficiency and extra torque. When the maximum output isn’t desirable from the HEMI powertrain, the Multi-Displacement System shuts off up to four cylinders. Also running on gasoline, the Pentastar V-6 engine is optional on this light-duty Ram truck. Compatible with the eTorque enhancement, this 3.6-L powertrain produces 305 net hp. You’ll get only 285 hp from the 2021 GMC Sierra 1500’s 4.3-L V-6 engine.

Utilities Features

Designed to read the gauge pressure of up to a dozen trailer tires, the Trailer Tire Pressure Monitoring is available for the 2021 Ram 1500. You will see the data from the TTPM on the Driver Information Digital Instrument Cluster, which has a crisp interface for optimum visibility. This digital display also keeps track of the Trailer Light Check, which cycles through all functional exterior lights on a connected trailer. You’ll get other towing aids on this full-size Ram pickup truck, such as the Integrated Trailer Brake Controller and a hitch-receiver with a Class IV designation. Such accessories are part of the optional Trailer Tow Group, including the all-new Trailer Reverse Steering Control. If you add the Max Towing Package, you will get a 10-inch rear axle with a 3.92 ratio for optimum performance. Additionally, 18-inch OWL tires are included with this advanced towing bundle. When equipped with the Snow Plow Prep Group, the Ram 1500 is undoubtedly ready to work in adverse winter conditions. As a luxury model, the 2021 Sierra 1500 doesn’t offer as many work-oriented amenities.
