The engines available for the RAM vary by trim level and mechanical configuration. The base engine on the RAM is a 3.6L V6 gasoline engine. It can achieve a power output of up to 305 HP, and its torque output reaches 269 LB-FT. A more powerful gasoline engine is also available for the RAM 1500. This engine is a 5.7L V8 with a greater power output of about 395 HP and 410 LB-FT of torque. This engine can be used with or without the mild-hybrid technology. A diesel engine is also available for all trim levels. The diesel engine is a 3.0L V6 with a power output of 260 HP. Its maximum torque output is 480 LB-FT. A new trim level added to the lineup this year called the TRX has an exclusive engine. An impressive supercharged V8 engine powers the TRX. The TRX has an even greater power potential of 702 HP. With this engine, the TRX produces 650 LB-FT of torque. An automatic transmission accompanies all engines. Rear-wheel drive is standard for most trim levels, and four-wheel drive is available. Interior amenities and conveniences for the 2021 RAM 1500 are based on trim level. The Tradesman’s standard features, the first trim level of the RAM 1500 series, include air conditioning and a tilt-telescopic steering wheel. This trim gets a five-inch touchscreen display, and it also has a sound system with six speakers. Some additional amenities are added to the higher-end trim levels, including split-folding seats in the back that get added on with the Lone Star and Big Horn trim levels. More options are available for both trim levels, too. In either model, you can select a larger touchscreen ranging from 8.4 inches to 12 inches. Both touchscreen displays are equipped with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. They both support smartphone pairing as well. More luxury is in store for the Laramie trim level, which adds leather upholstery, heated seats, and ventilated seats in the front to its list of amenities. Satellite radio is added to the audio system with the Longhorn, which also gets navigation. The Limited trim level at the top has wireless charging and bucket seats made of premium leather. Trailer sway damping is standard on the RAM 1500 Tradesman. Meanwhile, higher-end trims get hill descent control, exterior LED lights, and a handful of advanced safety aids, including adaptive cruise control and a surround-view camera.
