Off-Road Performance Features
Engineered for clearing rocky terrains, the Rock-Trac 4WD system is optional on the 2021 Jeep Gladiator and Wrangler. Shifting into a 4:1 ratio, this exclusive drivetrain improves handling on steep inclines. Both Jeep models offer the Off-Road+ Mode that manages several key mechanical features in real-time. For example, the 4-LO Mode enables low-speed handling on rocky obstacles that seem impassable to most other passenger cars. These Trail Rated Jeep vehicles also have switches that lock the front and rear wheels for maximum traction. You could instantly engage the Tru-Lok differentials to tackle rugged trails that would otherwise cause significant slipping in the wheels. Additionally, these robust models offer 4×4 drive systems from the Selec-Trac and Command-Trac series. Front tow hooks, steel skid plates, and steel bumpers protect various points from direct contact with harsh surfaces. The Off-Road Pages deliver important performance metrics to your attention in each vehicle. When it comes to water-fording specifications, these versatile Jeep models can drive through a depth of 30 inches. Qualifying for the elusive Desert Rated badge, the 2021 Jeep Gladiator Mojave withstands extreme driving conditions in the desert. Of course, both robust models have an impressive approach, breakover, and departure angles for optimal articulation and maneuverability on unpaved surfaces.
Powertrain Features
Built for light-duty performance, the patented Pentastar engine block is standard on the 2021 Jeep Gladiator and Wrangler. Taking unleaded fuel through normal aspiration, the 3.6-liter powertrain produces a maximum of 285 horsepower. When equipped with this six-cylinder powerplant, the Gladiator tows a 7,650-pound trailer. Compatible with the fuel-saving eTorque function, the Jeep Wrangler’s V-6 engine has a 3,500-pound towing capacity. This Trail Rated SUV also offers a 2.0-L turbocharged engine that claims a 270-hp rating. You may tap into 295 lb-ft of torque from this compact turbo propulsion system, which offers an impressive fuel economy of 24 MPG on the highway. In addition, both Jeep models offer the 3.0-L EcoDiesel engine that’s exclusively built for the latest vehicles under the newly established Stellantis brand. Cranking out 442 lb-ft, this turbo-diesel powertrain is significantly more efficient than the Pentastar engine. When running on the EcoDiesel powerhouse, the 2021 Gladiator tows 6,500 pounds. However, the diesel engine doesn’t increase the Jeep Wrangler’s towing capability.
Design Features
The 2021 Jeep Gladiator and Wrangler are sold with removable doors, which are made of lightweight aluminum for easy handling. These premium Jeep models also come with removable tops for pleasant exposure to the sunny skies. For instance, both vehicles offer the Sunrider Soft Top with a weatherproof finish. A fold-down windshield provides another convenient way for admiring the surroundings during your off-road adventures. In addition, both Trail Rated cars have a full-size spare tire and the Selectable Tire Fill Alert for enhanced peace of mind in remote locations.
