Off-Road Capability
Rolling on the Jeep Active Drive Low 4×4 drive, the 2021 Jeep Compass can pave its own off-road trails. This exclusive drivetrain creates a 20:1 crawl ratio for exceptional handling on unpaved terrain. Similarly, the 2021 Cherokee runs on the Active Drive 4×4 drive that automatically diverts extra torque to the rear wheels under certain driving conditions. Featuring a two-speed unit that transfers powers, the Active Drive II 4×4 is optional for this compact Jeep SUV. Low-speed handling is improved when the front and rear driveshafts are temporarily locked. When equipped with the Active Drive Lock 4×4 drive, the Cherokee offers the ultimate off-road freedom. Rocky landscapes will not stand in your way because you can turn on the Rock Mode from the Selec-Terrain Traction Management System. The patented TMS includes driving modes for sand, snow, mud, and other rough surfaces. This versatile Jeep model runs on a nine-speed automatic transmission that adapts to challenging driving conditions. Carrying the Aisin label, the Compass’ automatic gearbox has six different speeds. Both Trail Rated SUVs have class-leading ground clearance, articulation, and water fording.
Powertrain Features
Generating up to 180 horsepower, the 2.4 L Tigershark engine is available for the 2021 Compass and Cherokee. Paired with the patented MultiAir 2 technology, the normally aspirated powertrain offers an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 31 MPG on the highway. This efficient propulsion system has a towing capacity of 2,000 pounds. If you want more towing capability from the Cherokee, select the Pentastar V6 engine. Displacing 3.2 L, the patented powertrain increases the towing specification by 2,500 pounds. This six-cylinder engine’s peak ratings include 271 hp and 239 lb-ft of torque. Cranking out 295 lb-ft, a 2.0 L turbocharged engine is optional for the Cherokee. However, this turbo powertrain has a maximum towing rating of 4,000 pounds.
Digital Technology Features
An 8.4-inch center touch screen is available for the 2021 Jeep Compass and Cherokee. Having a highly responsive interface, the crisp monitor offers easy access to the Uconnect 4C NAV system. The SiriusXM Guardian suite provides a host of convenient services in both Jeep SUVs. For instance, the Remote Vehicle Start could be managed easily from a smartphone. With a push of a button on the rearview mirror, you can activate the SOS Call from the SiriusXM Guardian portal. These light-duty Jeep models offer seamless smartphone integrations via Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. Other mobile-optimized features in these Trail Rated vehicles include 4G LTE Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Additionally, the Cherokee’s infotainment system has the Jeep Skill suite with Amazon Alexa. Both compact SUVs offer great entertainment on nine speakers from Alpine.
